Common questions
When is the Nashik Kumbh Mela in 2027?
The Simhastha Nashik Kumbh runs from approximately August 14 to November 11, 2027, with peak bathing days clustered through August–October. Exact dates are confirmed by the district administration closer to the event.
Do I need to register to attend?
There is no central registration for pilgrims. You should however book stays early and carry a valid ID for security checkpoints during peak snan days.
How far in advance should I book a stay?
For Shahi Snan dates, six to nine months ahead is normal. For non-snan windows, two months is usually enough.
What is the closest airport to Nashik?
Nashik has a domestic airport at Ozar, but most visitors fly into Mumbai (165 km) or Pune (210 km) and travel by road or train.
Is the Kumbh safe for senior citizens?
Yes, with planning. Avoid the busiest hours on Shahi Snan days, stay within 1 km of the ghats, and travel with at least one companion. See our senior-citizen guide for a full plan.
